Closing this for now. Decided it's better for EG's max value to stay around 10 seconds. But other future modules might be able to do what was discussed here.
Jon Diercks The Amp Envelope module is analog modelled, this means times are exponential. e.g. Decay will never actually reach zero, it will try to get infinitely close to it but will never reach 0. What this means is that Decay/Release times are defined as, if I remember correctly, the time it takes for the level to reduce by 60dB. The Envelope Generator module's algorithm is slightly different, the release time does reach 0. Initially, I made the Amp Envelope times longer than EG because the former has sharp decays and thought people may want to make them longer. But I'm happy to consider making EG times 20s also, higher than that seems like overkill for most uses. Maybe the [MSEG style envelopes](https://mela-feedback.nikolozi.com/feature-requests/p/mseg-s…) serve better for super long envelope times, where the user can define as many segments as they want to create long attack/release times etc. Thoughts?
Nikolozi: I think for the use cases I have in mind, what I’m really looking for is a proper slew module. I’ll start a separate thread for that. If the current envelope behavior is working as intended, there’s no particular need to change it.
Jon Diercks: I'm happy to make EGs 20 seconds also if that would help some situations. And EGs could have much slower slopes and may feel much longer than the Amp Env module. But yes, feel free to make another thread for a different kind of module.
I too would love really long envelopes!
