Expand Perform View to become fully customisable

Many users have suggested making the Perform View more flexible where instead of just dials you can have toggles, sliders, metering and XY controls. Additionally, a user may want to hide the complexity of the patch and use Mela as a plug-in with a simple interface even though the DSP could be quite complex. The approach Mela can take is that allow users to pick desired UI elements from different modules in a preset and expose them via the Perform View. For example, a user could create an Auto-Filter preset where they would select the Filter module's XY control and the graph of the LFO module, which would be controlling the cutoff of the filter, to be displayed in the Perform View. And if there's an ability to just display the Perform View, it will feel like a simple plug-in.

The Perform View feature has been generalised and is now referred to as remote view. Details: - Remote view consists of remote controls. - Group and Stack modules, in all their forms, support remote controls. - Any submodule parameter can be exposed and controlled by an ancestor module. - Since lanes are Group modules, they also support remote controls. - Because every preset is powered by a root-level Stack module, Perform View assignments in existing presets automatically migrate to remote controls. - Remote controls can be created or removed via the actions menu. - All parameter types are supported, including list and toggle parameters. - Remote controls can be renamed with custom names. - Controls are automatically ordered to match their appearance in the preset structure. I know it doesn't to XY and other stuff yet. But I think it's a big step forward in flexibility. And I'll revisit other types of controls for remote views once this feature has been out in the wild for a bit. Originally, I was planning to have a dedicated module called Perform. But after experimenting a bit, I realised it makes more sense to have the feature integrated into the Stack and Group modules. The feature is ready for testing in the first Mela 7.0 build (awaiting Apple's approval).

Perform View is the last feature that has not yet become a module. After that, Mela truly will be "Everything is a module" system :) One user suggested a great feature: the ability to hide all modules except Perform. When browsing presets with the "Show Perform Only" option enabled, presets would load with only Perform modules visible.

Some great related suggestions from Samuel Lindeman: > …It makes most sense on a touch-screen as a ‘touch modulation controller’ which can be hooked to Midi Control Change modules among other things. > A Simple X & Y Modulator / Controller would come in handy when creating a midi-controller surfaces using Mela. > It could have two modes (ie. zero at center allowing +/-100 (depth) for X and Y axis, and zero at bottom left corner for 0 to +100(depth) for X and Y) and a optional ’snap back’ with decay time (ie. how fast the ‘controller knob’ glides back to it’s default position (corner or center)). > Without ’snap back’ enabled the controller knob could hold the position it’s left at. > It could also be turned into a somewhat interesting physics controller, like swipe the ball and it bounces around within the ‘box’ and friction parameter would set for how long it'll keep on moving, the balls X & Y location then be used to generate CC’s etc. > The idea popped up when I was using Mela as a Midi CC generator (for LFOs etc.) and thought how nice it would be to have an X & Y controller to tweak parameters with.

Thanks tristan for the suggestion.
