PolyMUX or Poly-Chaining is, to the best of my understanding: when a multiple of notes/ voices (let’s say a simple three note chord) get’s received on one channel, for example channel 1, and then get redistributed to other channels, let’s say channel 2, 3 and 4. So if notes/voices get received on channel 1 the fist received note will be sent to channel 2, the second to 3, etc. How these voices get allocated can differ from program to program. like using wichever channel is not yet receiving a voice free to play the next not or allocating the channels round robin style. Examples -The roland boutique series uses this to chain together multiples of the same hardware modules to raise the polyphony count. For example: 1boutique juno can only play 4 voices. 2 chained together can play 8 voices distributed over 2 devices. -Rk002 and rk006 devices get used this way to split up notes from 1 channel to different channels. A famous use case for this is to grant polyphony to the korg volca sample and the digitakt wich both have instrument tracks with their own midi channel that only accept 1 note at a time. Because the notes get distributed among the tracks/channels the machine itself can be played polyphonically. 2 examples can be found her: https://duy.retrokits.com/?q=Polymux . Said van Hattum can you provide more details? I don't quite follow what the module would do. By voice, I'm assuming you mean a synth voice (and in this case Mela's synth voice), and by channel do you mean an audio channel or a MIDI channel or something else? Feel free to provide any links to any specific products for reference. I'm assuming by Polymux you are referring to something specific.
