Hurray strummer is live! And retrigs, and so many new cool options! My work got stalled because of this new version, thanks!

Alexey Podolsky: Sweet :) Let me know if you find bugs or have any feedback.

Even basic strummer would be awesome, and strummer with modulatable strumming direction/pattern would be even better (;

Alexey Podolsky: Any favourite strummers out there that I should look at inspiration?

Nikolozi: 4pockets midi strummer. But, as this is a modular system, this could be splitted to some kind of gate module (see my suggestion on euclidean for example) and simple strummer itself. In this case, everything strummer module needs is a direction (up or down) and offset. Strumming patterns would be offloaded to the gate module.

Alexey Podolsky: I have a few questions. 1. What would the offset parameter you mentioned do? 2. What sort of timing is preferred? In seconds or expressed in temo synced values or both? 3. Would what Bitwig's style Strummer suffice? I'm also looking at that suggestion, don't think I fully understood it, I'll ask you questions there also.

Nikolozi: 1) it takes a chord (some notes starting at the same time) and shifts each note's start for a delay amount, leaving notes ends as they were. (first not 0ms offset, second 100 ms, third 100ms after second etc) 2)offset could be both in ms and divisions, like other settings. There is also strumming direction - it can be a separate switch, or better it would be the same offset dial, being able to have both positive and negative values. This will allow to modulate both strumming direction and speed. Positive values - lowest to highest notes, negative - highest to lowest.

Alexey Podolsky: 1) ah yes, I was thinking of calling that parameter Time, but calling it Offset makes more sense, duh. 2) I've started implementing it and it will support both ms and divisions. Regarding the strum direction, I haven't decided on the UI, but even if it's a button or switch (and not a dial) it will still be modulatable. In Mela MIDI Toggle and PopUpList parameters are also modulatable, it's just that they don't currently animate when they are modulated (it's on my to do list).
